Sharing some words & finally clicking send on this letter from a few weeks ago. Iām sending extra gratitude your way as we officially enter the holiday season.
Recently, I spent an hour or so on the beach, playing with the sand. Particularly, with the top layer of sand that earlier in the day had been covered by water, dried out by the sun & was slightly hardened.(Pictured below the adorable puppys paw).
I kept picking up the top layer pieces of sand wanting to build a heart shape. Sometimes the sand crumbled immediately when I picked it up. So many times I would get so close to making the heart shape and then in an instant the object quickly disintegrated.
At times I stopped trying to create art with the sand. I watched in awe as the cutest puppy ran across the beach to its owners and splashed into the ocean, as kids did backflips and played freely, and as surfers paddled and caught waves. I sometimes stared at my phone, too.
Though I kept trying and trying to build a heart shape with that top layer of sand.
The pieces fell apart over and over again.
āBroken hearts can be healed, broken hearts can be healed.ā I repeated and wondered to myself.
We know that heartbreak is not easy. It sometimes feels debilitating and impossible to get through.
With so much heartbreak in the world my only option is to believe these words: broken hearts can be healed.
When our hearts are broken, we are different. We break down. Sometimes over and over again. (Like the sand).
Eventually, heartbreak opens the door for healing.
Healing means we have room for what is ahead. We find glimmers of hope and can look forward. We can be present with what is. And we are who we are because of our past.
If you heart is hurting as the world keeps letting you down, reach out.
Sending extra hugs & sticking with my beach motto ābroken hearts can be healedā š
xoxo,
Amanda
