Hi 2024!! I’m wishing you an official happy new year from We All Feel, better late than never 💗
I spent the first week of this year in Colorado with family. The last time I went skiing fear was an overpowering emotion. I wanted this year to feel different.
Here are 3 Things That Got Me Through something that previously felt frightening.
I changed my mindset BEFORE I arrived to Colorado. My old narrative was: “I grew up skiing but as an adult I’m scared.” Instead I used words like “excited” and “beautiful” to describe my upcoming trip. I said those words out loud to multiple people.
I took control while knowing we can never fully take control. That said, I picked which chair lifts I got on & discussed the trails I would ski down. (In previous years I would “go with the flow” and wind up on a harder trail on day one, immediately demolishing my trust in self).
Breath is everything. As the days progressed and I opted for steeper trails, I counted and lengthened my inhales and exhales to calm my nervous system. On the final day of skiing, I did the most runs and hardest trails I’d done all week.
Ultimately, I focused on me. So my question for you is: How can you focus on YOU the next time a challenge comes your way?
I may have taken it easier this year difficulty level, but I gained a mega boost of self-confidence that I needed.
Xoxo,
Amanda
