Recently I reconnected with an old coworker on LinkedIn. We had worked together as school social workers in the South Bronx. Now living in different cities, we caught up with a zoom, and in the hours that followed I smiled as additional colleagues who she still keeps in touch with reached out to me.
I reflect and share a lot on the impact of connection and in this case the power and ripple effect of reconnection.
I am one of those people that gets so excited to run into someone I know (or have not seen in years) on the bustling streets of New York or on the beach in Los Angeles. Essentially, I love being reminded of how small our big world is. These run-ins make me feel whole and at home in some of the busiest cities.
A powerful quote on Loneliness & on Connection
Adam Grant recently shared: “The best cure for loneliness is not more frequent interaction. It’s more meaningful interaction. Many people enjoy solitude. We can spend up to 75% of our time alone without feeling isolated. What matters most for well-being is the quality of connections, not the quantity.”
This concept comforts me and reinforces the value deep connection. It is why I am so passionate about We All Feel offerings.
