Last week I finally started keeping track of my “little wins” as a business owner. In fact, if you’re reading this substack post, your name is on that list.
It is a tiny journal filled with quick notes about small things that spark excitement. I am not sharing this to brag about how much is going well in my life, rather to bring up the reality that being self-employed comes with highs and lows.
I have noticed that my mood can drastically shift over the course of a few days or in the span of an hour. I started this journal to help me stay grounded when the inevitable feelings of fear or frustration come my way after something does not work out how I imagined or happen as quickly as I thought it would.
As a society, we put a lot of pressure on being employed and on what the typical 9-5 should look like. Having a job does not define who you are as a person. Read that again. Whether you are working, searching for a job, taking time off, or retired… who you are as a person takes precedence over work related accolades.
The concept of my “little wins” notebook is similar to a gratitude journal. Whether you start a new notebook or add it to your notes app, I invite you to make a list of “little wins” from this week. Can you hold space for the small things going well that you usually brush over?
Speaking of personal wins, it is my biggest honor and joy to hold space for adults to process and feel emotions in safe spaces. We All Feel Workshops include writing, sharing, listening, movement & an opportunity for deep connection to self & others.
